Do the Money-Making Stuff First

It’s so easy to become distracted when your working on your affiliate business. Trust me I know; I’ve lost days, maybe weeks spending time on stuff that wasn’t making me any money when I could have been using that time more productively. Here are some ideas that I use to help keep me focused. Maybe they’ll work for you too.
1. Write down a plan of action and stick to it. I break it down like this: I have a 90 day plan which I break down into three 30 day plans, which I in turn break down into a weekly plan, and then a daily plan. I spend one day every three months and work out a plan for what I want to accomplish in my business over the next 90 days and then I stick to it. This way I know exactly what I need to get done each day in order to achieve my goals.
2. Don’t get bogged down by your email. I don’t know about you but I can loose myself for hours catching up on email. I’m signed up to so many “Guru” lists and it seams like everybody has a new video they want me to watch. Don’t get me wrong, videos are cool and all…; But, I think everybody is going a little overboard with the whole thing right now. I just don’t have time to watch them all.
I spend about 10 minutes a day just going through my email to check for anything that might need my immediate attention and to delete the junk I know I’m not interested in. Then one day a week I set aside a few hours and go through the weeks email in detail.
3. Avoid the web surfing. It’s easy to get carried away especially when you have things like stumble upon installed on your web browser’s tool bar. It can get pretty addictive. You just have to avoid it until you finish your daily plan of action. Once that’s accomplished then you can play.
4. Avoid the TV. Easier said then done right? Hey I know I love watching TV too but it isn’t going to help either of us build our businesses. I set aside one evening a week for TV. I tape everything I really want to see and then watch it all at once. That way I still get to see all my favorite shows but on my terms.
If you have any more ideas then please leave a comment. I look forward to reading your ideas.
